Origin & Lineage
PE6 was isolated by RogerRabbit, a veteran mycologist and longtime community figure known for stabilizing hard-to-work-with genetics. The strain is a deliberate cross: the storied Penis Envy line on one side, and the dependable Texas Orange Cap on the other.
The goal of that pairing shows in the result. Penis Envy brings its famously thick, dense, potent morphology; Texas Orange Cap brings the one thing classic PE lacks — consistent, generous spore production. PE6 is where those two traits meet, which is exactly what makes it so useful to spore researchers.
How to Recognize PE6
PE6 shows large, golden-brown caps that open more fully than a standard Penis Envy — the open veil is a defining feature and a big part of why it releases spores so readily. Beneath the caps sit the thick, sturdy stems inherited from its PE parent.
Like other cubensis varieties, it shows blue bruising where handled — a common identification cue in the group. The overall impression is a Penis Envy build with a more conventional, spore-friendly cap.

This is where PE6 earns its reputation. Standard Penis Envy is notorious for being a poor spore producer — its dense, often barely-opening caps drop very few spores, which makes PE-lineage genetics frustrating to study. PE6 solves exactly that problem.
