Albino Penis Envy (APE) Strain Guide

APE descends from the famous Penis Envy line — itself one of the most storied cubensis strains. Through intensive hybridization and isolation, breeders crossed Penis Envy with the PF Albino line, and the result was a variety carrying the distinctive Penis Envy morphology plus a rare albino (leucistic) trait.

That albinism is what sets APE apart: a reduction in pigment that leaves the mushroom ghostly pale from cap to stem. Combined with the dense, deliberate growth of its PE heritage, it became a strain that researchers and collectors seek out specifically for its looks.

APE is hard to mistake. Look for small, creamy ghost-white bell-shaped caps atop thick, stubby, stunted stems — a squat, dense build very different from the tall, slender profile of most cubensis. There's little to no pigment anywhere on the fruit.

Like others in the group, it shows deep blue bruising where handled, which stands out dramatically against the pale flesh. That white-and-blue contrast is one of the most striking sights in the cubensis world.
