North Spore Syringe – 10cc | Spore Genetics
A wild-type Thai Psilocybe cubensis that grows straight up – isolated, stabilized, and named by Spore Genetics
North Spore is named for the way it grows. The stems run tall, thick, and straight, and they keep reaching until something stops them — like a needle finding north. The line came to us as a wild-type Thai cubensis sample; the species is most often documented in Thailand on elephant dung in pasture and forest-edge habitat, and the sample’s source line is undocumented, so we list it as a wild Thai cubensis rather than tying it to any named variety. We selected it, stabilized it, and named it in-house. This multi-spore syringe carries spores taken from the North Spore line’s own fruit bodies, so you get the full genetic spread of the line rather than a single stabilized expression.
The other signature is the cap. Young caps are convex and golden-caramel with a pale margin. As they mature they flatten out broad and darken to a deep purple-brown — the heaviest-sporulating specimens go nearly black from the center out — and the veil remnants hanging from the stem turn black with deposited spores. That darkening is what a heavy sporulator looks like, and it is why prints from this line come out dense and dark purple-brown. Spores are ellipsoid with the thick wall and apical germ pore typical of cubensis: an easy reference specimen and a clear comparison point beside other Thai cubensis lines.
Like most tropical cubensis, North Spore is noted for vigorous, rhizomorphic mycelium and a reputation for resilience to contamination — the hardiness of a population that evolved outdoors in a hot, humid climate.
