Psilocybe Mexicana Isolated Spore Syringe – 10cc | Spore Genetics
Also known as Mexicana Iso or Psilocybe mexicana Spores
The Psilocybe Mexicana Isolated Spore Syringe represents one of the most historically significant psilocybin mushrooms, used ceremonially for over 2,000 years. Known to the Aztecs as teonanácatl—“the flesh of the gods”—this species was revered by indigenous peoples across Mexico and Central America for its entheogenic qualities.
First described scientifically by French botanist Roger Heim, Psilocybe mexicana also played a groundbreaking role in modern psychedelic research. In the 1950s, Dr. Albert Hofmann, working with cultivated specimens at Sandoz Laboratories, first isolated and named the active compounds psilocybin and psilocin from this species—cementing its legacy in both science and culture.
Each syringe contains 10cc of high-density Psilocybe Mexicana Isolated Spores, sterilized and sealed in our ISO-7 cleanroom for purity and viability. This isolated lineage provides researchers with more consistent, stabilized phenotypes compared to multi-spore samples.
Microscopic analysis reveals bell-shaped caps (0.5–2 cm) ranging from ocherous to straw-colored, slender hollow stems (4–10 cm), adnate to adnexed gills that darken to purple-brown, and smooth ovoid spores measuring 8–12 × 5–8 μm. True to its heritage, Ps. mexicana may also produce sclerotia (truffles)—a subterranean survival structure that allows the species to endure harsh environmental conditions. This Psilocybe Mexicana strain produces mushrooms in several flushes with the truffles forming later on in the life cycle. You will notices the substrate start to "erupt" and "crack" as the truffles break the surface of the substrate.
