What Psychedelic Spores Should I Choose?

In the wide universe of mushrooms, you will see that there are so many spores to choose from. You might just be making your mark in the mycology world or maybe you’re an  experienced grower with a great amount of knowledge behind you, but you still wonder -

What exactly makes a mushroom easy, medium, or hard to grow?

To tell you the truth, we have learned that there is really no such thing as a skill level associated with what psychedelic mushrooms you decide to grow. Come with me on this blog journey to help you understand that there isn’t necessarily a correlation to mushrooms’ growing difficulty level and how much experience you have. It’s all about the time and effort you are willing to put in. So let’s get to growin’!

Mushrooms Have a Mind Of Their Own -

No matter what strain you’re debating with yourself on getting, there are many spore websites that are putting a skill level to the spores you are seeking. This may make you say, “Well I shouldn’t do this one, it’s too hard for me”, when you should be encouragingly asking yourself if you have the dedication to creating a plentiful growth. The answer is yes!

Mushrooms definitely do have their own minds, and this is why we say there is no such thing as levels of difficulty. Even for the “easy” mushrooms you can still run into potential contamination, slow germination/colonization compared to other grows with the same strain, even using different kinds of substrates will also differ your grows. A lot of these things can still be of presence in your “difficult” strains as well. So it truly is all a learning experience, no matter the strains you choose.

Making observations, documenting your findings, trying new strains will all aid in expanding your mind not only with the outcome of the mushrooms itself but even from the very start of your rewarding mushroom project!

Psilocybe Cubensis Mushrooms

Growing Environments, What’s That All About?

Indeed mushrooms do have different ranges of environmental needs but that is where your hard work in exploration will come in.

Whether you’ve got a Panaeleous Cyanescens or a Golden Teacher in front of you, rest assured you will have a different kind of environment style going on. Golden Teacher Magic Mushrooms are going to be a typical psilocybe cubensis that can have its normal 70-80 degree range with 80% or above humidity levels  that can be used on any grain and transferred to a standard substrate. Then you bring in your Cyanescens into the mix. What does this entail?

You first colonize on rye or 5-grain and then transfer to a grass loving substrate. This strain will call for a lot of oxygen and you should almost always be around 100% humidity during its pinning/fruiting stage and ultimately it can take a while to fully fruit. But does this mean one is harder than the other? Not quite. Again, ask yourself if you are willing to dedicate the time and effort to your grows. If the answer is yes, send it.

For another instance, Penis Envy has a very particular environment it needs in order to get it to fruit, but to the contrary a Mister Kenny (Penis Envy Variety) will not be as particular and is a lot easier to fruit.

Just as I mentioned earlier in the last paragraph, mushrooms have a mind of their own. So even if they are part of the same family or better yet the same exact strain, you can experience different results even following the same exact regimen. This is what happens when dealing with multispores. You have all sorts of genetics in just one spore syringe (all of the same strain of course) but it is considered “multispore” for having multiple genetics that all have their own minds and how they’re going to take off in their lifespan.

As mushroom lovers ourselves, we just adjust and grow with the mushroom, no matter how “difficult” it may be.

Ultimately What Spores Should I Choose?

The short answer to that: ABSOLUTELY ANY ONE YOU WANT!

If you’re looking through our products list and you see an Amazonian Spore Syringe but you’re also eyeballing the Albino Penis Envy Spore Syringe, do them both! Maybe you want to dip your toes in the waters of the grass loving Black Cap Natalensis or the Panaeleous Cyanescens mentioned earlier. Given that these are not just any regular psilocybe cubensis strains, it is a one of a kind when it comes to its potency!

Wherever your pleasure leads, you can have a peaceful mind knowing you can absolutely grow any psychedelic mushroom you want. Spore Genetics is here to help! Contact us if you need any guidance on where to start!
