The answer to that - the less substrate for mycelium to feed off of creates less chance for success in certain varieties.

The all in one (AIO) bag is a great way for beginners to learn inoculation as well as having the simplicity of growing in just one bag without needing a monotub or anything too crazy to start with. 

With that being said, I’ll also say there are going to be pros and cons amongst different varieties that can grow in an all in one grow method. In general, the yield that comes from an all in one bag can be minimal and I want you guys to get the best bang for your buck without having any further issues with yield and deformations.

Bulk Grow Set Up -

Bulk growing is high on the versatility scale due to the different mushrooms it can house. This involves starting on grains and then transferring to a substrate into a monotub, tote, aluminum pan, the options are endless. The only difference would be the kind of substrate that is called for your mushrooms. If it’s a grass lover, you will use a grass-loving substrate, if they need a manure-based substrate, use that. Again, the possibilities are endless.

If issues are arising in your bulk grow setting, it could potentially be lack of air flow, lack of oxygen, too hot/cold of conditions, ratio of grain to substrate is off, etc. Fear not, there are super simple ways of fixing these errors.
